UNICREDIT BULBANK JSC

After winning the first prize in an architectural competition for a design, the EKSA team, led by arch. K. Peev, designed a complex architectural project for the new bank building, organizing and supervising works until obtaining construction permit.

According to the task, the building has four levels above ground and one underground level. The level with maximum accessibility are two customers saloons. They are oval elliptical shaped of the ground and first floor and are connected with segmental staircase. On the ground floor are facilities for new banking products, ATM spot on the facade, cash register block, and an information board for exchange rates. Seating areas and standing places for writing are provided in the customers saloons, and a comfortable place for mailing boxes and telephone calls. Each workstation is technically assured. The partition walls are completed aluminum and glass for better noise absorption. Optimal natural lighting is provided by the curtain walls facade and windows to the courtyard. The ceilings of customers saloons have built in lights, highlighting the various architectural details and elements. Access control system usage has been provided in the building. The remaining floors serve the functions of the bank and meet the requirements of the investor.

The construction is reinforced concrete with a heavy load. All areas are air conditioned or ventilated, and floor heating is installed in the customers saloons. Built in is the most modern fire alarm and security system.

"Since the beginning of 2001, Bulbank Plovdiv welcomes its customers in a new building on Ivan Vazov Str. near the Army Club". Winning the first prize in the competition, which ended with 11 completed projects, is EKSA team led by arch. Konstantin Peev. Their proposal matches best the investor's functional and aesthetic requirements. The modern architectural design bears classical spirit. We are witnesses of one of the few cases when the local Plovdiv patriotism lets a Sofia architect construct the building, and acknowledges that they have already constructed a building that is one of the best in the city.

"Briefly summarized, the logic of building form is by following the principles of modern architecture, while using approaches from classical architecture, matching the spirit and traditions of Plovdiv. Our purpose is to recreate a harmonic relationship between the new building of Bulbank and the historic center of Plovdiv not through imitation, but through consistent application of the principles of constructing the architectural form".
